The Solomon series was painted during the mid to late 1980. They are a group of 12 paintings that were based on the Songs of Solomon from the Bible. All of the original series, including the studies have been sold, apart from the images here which were kept in storage until 2008 The paintings were all done on Belgium Linen and oil paint was applied with both brush and palette knife then finished with paint straight out of the tube! This series of work is probably the most important to Marie and is considered one of her most important and expressive painting periods.
